I’m participating in a retrospective with one of my long exposure pinhole camera images. (For online exhibition experience:
a solo show at the Gallery at Still River Editions June 11 - September 30, 2016. The exhibition, Luminous Intervals: Extended Exposures in Alternative Photography, featured some of my large format cyanotype photograms and prints from months-long exposures made with my hand-built pinhole cameras.
Part of a body of work: 16 Weeks Under the Pines, (a review from Connecticut Art Review) the piece I am showing in this retrospective is the result of a 16 week long exposure made at Hamden Hall Country Day School, July - November 2018. It represents the negative as it appears after long exposure, typically in a rose-colored hue. The positive, or inverse of this image, would be blue, blue-green. I choose to display these "negative" images upside-down as they would be found oriented inside the pinhole camera. Shown this way gives the viewer a sense of the process involved in creating the work.
